“Unsettling” Protest Methods For Seunghan To Leave RIIZE Spark Intense Debate
Seunghan‘s status in RIIZE has been the hottest issue in K-Pop for the second week of October thanks to SM Entertainment‘s hasty handling of the matter. He was announced to return to the group on October 11, 2024, only to have him officially withdraw on October 13. This was partly due to the intense protests that had been going on surrounding his return.
OT6 fans had sent countless wreaths of white chrysanthemums, known for being used at funerals, to the company building.
Many fans called out these OT6 supporters for their hurtful behavior.
it’s so hard to believe that these people are supposed to be normal citizens of a society like no way you just spent your paycheck to buy funeral wreaths for a kpop idol because they dated and smoked when they were a teen https://t.co/dGu17IhYaB

People who are not fans of BRIIZE felt that the whole matter was overblown and had caused everyone involved much mental duress.

Others felt that while Seunghan was not completely innocent, the protest methods were over-the-top.
케이팝 진짜 병들긴 했다

그래도 항의 방식이 이런 식으로 자리잡는 건.. 외부에서 보면 걍 정신병이지.

K-Pop is so ill seriously. Although there are some parts where he did reap what he sowed, this method of protest which seems to be becoming the norm, just appears like mental illness to third parties. I can’t believe that this is the final choice that these self-induced slaves that are K-Pop fans make because they are held hostage by their biases and unable to produce an effective boycott.

Netizens on the online community theqoo reason that the wreaths were sent to the company rather than targeting Seunghan as a person.
- Who will clean those wreaths up? I want to send tens to the president’s office to say that democracy is dead.
- They probably sent it to the company…
- LOL.
- They didn’t send it to Hong Seunghan, but to SM, right?
- As someone who doesn’t know idols well, this is kind of unsettling to see.
- Well, right now on. X, people are insulting the other members, cursing them to die and even bringing their family in to this, because they are not doing anything. And these are the kids making a fuss about how pitiful Seunghan is. Is this right? LOL.
- I’m also an idol fan, and I hate how people send funeral wreaths… It’s truly unsettling. It’s a good thing he withdrew, and I also think the company is so dumb for not acknowledging things until funeral wreaths get sent, but these actions are so… ugh.
Meanwhile, OT7 fans have been sending support and love to Seunghan through social media.
