Cube Responds To Lai Kuanlin And His Lawyer’s Claims That They Violated Their Exclusive Contract
After Lai Kuanlin, best known as the maknae of Wanna One, requested his contract with Cube Entertainment be terminated, a legal dispute unfurled between the two parties.
Lai Kuanlin’s lawyer revealed in detail about how Cube violated their exclusive contract. They claimed that the agency sold Lai Kuanlin’s promotional rights in China to a third party without his consent and had caused scheduling conflicts that ruined his image.
Cube Entertainment has now responded with their own lengthy statement, where they reasserted that they have not violated any contractual agreements. They claimed that they always consulted with Lai Kuanlin about his career and that a third party was trying to persuade Lai Kuanlin and his family to leave Cube Entertainment and sign with them instead.
Throughout our management of Lai Kuanlin’s schedules, we always explained the activities and related contracts thoroughly to Lai Kuanlin and only proceeded after receiving his consent.
With Lai Kuanlin’s rapid success in China, an outside party encouraged Lai Kuanlin and his family to leave our company and the Korean industry to sign with them instead.

Hello. This is Cube Entertainment.
First, we asked the legal office claiming to be Lai Kuanlin’s legal respresentive to prove that they are his proxy, but we have not received any response so far. As the statement released yesterday by the legal office had false facts, we wanted to reveal the truth through this statement.
There are no reasons to terminate the contract between our agency and Lai Kuanlin. Throughout our management of Lai Kuanlin’s schedules, we always explained the activities and related contracts thoroughly to Lai Kuanlin and only proceeded after receiving his consent. As a domestic Chinese agency was crucial in helping Lai Kuanlin break into the Chinese market, we received Lai Kuanlin’s agreement when choosing which Chinese management to sign a contract with for his promotions. We signed a contract with a Chinese agency and they have been managing Lai Kuanlin’s Chinese promotions thus far.
We have been with Lai Kuanlin since he was a trainee who competed in Produce 101, went on to debut and promote with Wanna One, and to now, when he is active in China through dramas and variety shows. We never held back in using our company’s know-how, network, specialized trainers, and support to help Lai Kuanlin get to where he is now. We have continued to pay him properly as agreed upon with the division of the profits.
Nevertheless, with Lai Kuanlin’s rapid success in China, an outside party encouraged Lai Kuanlin and his family to leave our company and the Korean industry to sign with them instead.
Lai Kuanlin is still a 17-year-old minor. As we are sincerely worried about Lai Kuanlin’s future, we have requested a consultation with his family and him. We hope that we can resolve this matter peacefully through a deep conversation.
We apologize for unintentionally causing an inconvenience to the fans, and we will do our best to show a better image.
