“Culinary Class Wars” Chef Goes Viral For Delivering Food To Grieving Families From Jeju Air Plane Crash

Chef Ahn Yoo Sung, known for his appearance on the Netflix cooking competition show Culinary Class Wars has moved the hearts of many by offering comfort to the families of victims of the recent Jeju Air passenger plane tragedy.
On December 30, Chef Ahn visited Muan Airport to personally deliver food to those mourning their loved ones.
Chef Ahn and his team prepared 200 servings of gimbap, a Korean staple, early that morning. He collaborated with Yoon Yong Moon — owner of a local restaurant who contributed an additional 500 servings — to make sure that the grieving families received warm and heartfelt meals.
In addition to the gimbap, Chef Ahn purchased 500 units of convenience store items bearing his name, such as “Tamago Sandwich” and “Tamago Gimbap,” from a local 7-Eleven branch at Muan Airport. He even promised to continue providing these meals daily until the situation stabilizes.

I purchased about 500 of those from the 7-Eleven store at Muan Airport, and I plan to distribute them every day until the situation is resolved.

Reflecting on the tragedy, Chef Ahn opened up about how it has affected the nation and how connected everyone feels to the victims. He even revealed that a producer he had worked closely with on a show was among those who lost their lives.
[The victims] are all connected to our families. Everyone knows someone, even if it’s just one degree of separation. Even a PD I worked with on the show has passed away. My heart feels so heavy.
