“Culinary Class Wars” Chef Received A Baffling Fee For Appearing On The Show
Netflix‘s Culinary Class Wars has quickly become one of the most popular Korean reality shows on air currently, catapulting many of its participants into the limelight, chef Jung Ji Sun being one of them.
Jung recently appeared on KBS Cool FM‘s radio show hosted by Park Myung Soo and talked in detail about how the show has impacted her career. After appearing on Culinary Class Wars, Chef Jung says she gets recognized by customers a lot, and the number of foreigners visiting her Hongdae restaurant has increased significantly.
While the visibility and sales of her restaurant have undoubtedly been boosted, the fee that Jung received for appearing on the show would be unexpected to many. Chef Jung addressed the topic, saying, “Many people were curious about how much I earned from appearing on ‘Culinary Class Wars.’ It was at the typical pay rate.”
Park Myung Soo inquired about the precise number, asking whether it was between ₩1.00 million KRW (about $726 USD) to ₩2.00 million KRW (about $1,450 USD). Jung shockingly revealed that it was even lower. She added that participants never discussed their respective appearance fees with each other during the filming.
While the appearance fee might have been underwhelming compared to the show’s current popularity, its outreach has helped Chef Jung’s business immensely, with reservations tripling. She also shared her plans for expanding to a new location!
