Davichi’s Kang Min Kyung Posts Formal Apology For Her Product Placement Controversy
Davichi‘s Kang Min Kyung recently came under fire for not explicitly stating sponsored products in her YouTube videos.
It was revealed by Dispatch that although Kang Min Kyung introduced various products as if they were items that she used in her daily life after paying for them with her own money, she was actually getting paid 15 million KRW to 20 million KRW (~$12,500 USD to $16,700 USD) from each brand for her marketing services.
A few days after the controversy, Kang Min Kyung took to her Instagram account to post a formal apology.
The translated statement reads as follows:
Hello, this is Kang Min Kyung. I’m here to talk about the articles written about my YouTube channel as well as my Instagram account.
It’s already been 2 years since I started my YouTube channel. Just like I did in the beginning, I personally do everything myself from the filming, editing, and sharing of my vlogs.
While undergoing various steps and processes with the joy of doing something by myself from start to finish, I felt that I was lacking and inexperienced. I ended up looking back on my activities and thought about a lot of things today.
I feel like I was very excited for a while because while managing my YouTube account, I gained many viewers as well as support. At the same time, I began to receive many advertisement offers from brands, and my excitement got the better of me. As a result, I was unable to look out for the stance of my subscribers who cherished my channel.
While reading the comments of those who felt discomfort, I was able to learn about the aspects that I failed to think about.
I’d like to sincerely apologize to those who felt uncomfortable due to my actions.
