Host Dex Receives Mixed Reactions For His Comments To ITZY’s Yeji
Single’s Inferno 3 host and influencer Dex (Kim Jin Young) has sparked a debate after his latest comments to ITZY‘s Yeji.
Dex was known to fans before taking part in Single’s Inferno 2, but his fame has grown massively and he even has his own show where he invites celebrities to chat about different topics.
On January 11, the latest guest was ITZY’s Yeji.
During the episode, the two stars had banter, cementing the light-hearted nature of the show.
Yet, one scene has caused mixed reactions from fans. At one point, the duo was talking about snacks, and Yeji explained that she was a fan of a lot of things but added that she goes to extremes, and if she likes a snack, it goes on for three months.
I don’t know if it’s because if I like something, I just continue to go that way but, all my taste is like that. If it’s long, it goes for three months. If I like a particular snack, it goes for three months.

As per the concept of the show, Dex turned on his charm and teased Yeji by saying, “Same with your boyfriends?”
After Yeji laughed, Dex looked embarrassed as he added, “Never mind. Pretend you didn’t hear.”
When the scene was shared on social media, one fan shared her mixed reactions that even though Yeji laughed at it, they thought it was not appropriate to say it as a joke, even if it’s the concept of the show.
y'all btw im not defending him but yeji herself laughed when he said this but like idkk 😭😭 EYE wouldn't say that to a woman even as a joke! they were on the topic of food anyway… but i guess that's how that show is idk 🤷♀️ pic.twitter.com/g6IqafIitw

When the tweet was shared, it sparked a debate on social media. Some fans pointed out that netizens were thinking too much into it and that the show is billed as a “flirty” show about dating and relationships, so Yeji would’ve expected statements like that.
its crazy to see the amount of women incels in KPOP fandoms, it's actually astonishing
dude's known from a dating show, that's the whole premise. He flirts with people on the showWhat if Yeji actually likes the guy? lmao
"oh no she just laughs at everything" virgins projecting https://t.co/Zl9fIP9rkF— 友人(chingu) (@ChinguBig) January 12, 2024
Look i am usually an itzy defender bc they get slander for no reason, HOWEVER the whole point of the show is dating/flirting that’s probably why he said that😭 plus she just laughed https://t.co/NnueON38VB

isnt this like the concept of the show? watch other ep with other guest he asked the same about relationship…since he got popular on dating reality show so its like his concept https://t.co/MzdzfBOrW6

Yet, others pointed out that even if it is the show’s concept, it felt like an unnecessary change of subject from snacks to relationships. In particular, considering the scrutiny female idols get, many thought that even if Yeji laughed, it wasn’t appropriate.
like we were just talking about cookies and chips why he ask that pic.twitter.com/6NrkgbdiwE https://t.co/ysZsLXoC15

"yeji laughed…" women, specially those in the industry, tend to laugh to deflect the situation bc if they react even a lil bit negatively they are the ones who gonna get dogpilled
"IT WASS A JOKEEE" crowd would have been over the media. https://t.co/ZKeHOlASrM

While Dex undoubtedly had no negative intentions, the topic of dating and relationships with female idols is always risky, and comments can sometimes seem abrupt and inappropriate.
