“I Would Have Died In January”—eaJ Breaks Down In Tears During Instagram Live

Former DAY6 member eaJ (also known as Jae) opened up about how his fans saved his life in a recent live broadcast.
He recently was on his eaJ 2022 Asia Tour Live. eaJ held a live broadcast after shows in Taipei and Singapore and reflected on how far he has come.
eaJ shared that while he often hears fans say that he “saved their lives,” they are the ones who truly saved him. He revealed that he “would have died in January” if it wasn’t for the fans that stayed by his side despite everything. In January 2022, he was “canceled” after making a derogatory remark about his friend JAMIE. This was also shortly after he left JYP Entertainment, who announced his departure from DAY6, which contracted eaJ’s statement. While eaJ has asked MyDays (DAY6 fans) to trust him and the members for a full group comeback, and he and JAMIE have “talked it out” along with his apology, many netizens were not so quick to forgive him.
I read in a lot of letters that you guys say that I saved your lives, but in actuality… I think I would have died in January if it wasn’t for you guys, and I really, really appreciate… that you guys have been by my side for so long with all the stuff that happened and my mistakes and all my problems as a human being. But I’m doing my best to learn and thank you so much…

eaJ has been transparent about his struggle with mental health, including depression and anxiety. So, surely none of this was easy. So, he expressed gratitude to those who got him through the difficult times. During the live broadcast, he couldn’t hold back his tears.
Thank you, thank you … so much… for everything that you guys have done for me, and thank you for letting me be alive today because if I wasn’t, I wouldn’t have been able to go to that show. I wouldn’t have been able to see you guys. Thank you so much. Thank you so much for being by my side, and I appreciate every single one of you guys. Thank you so much.

To conclude, eaJ encouraged others who, too, have found themselves in a hard situation to persevere. He reassured them that it would all be worth it. Additionally, he promised his fans that he would “keep working hard” as repayment.
Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. …But if there’s a silver lining in this, just know that for people that are in a similar predicament as I was in before just know that there’s hope on the other side. You just gotta push through one day at a time. It’s not easy. It’s so hard. It’s so, so hard, but you push through, and I promise it’ll be worth it at the end. ‘Cause I did Taipei, I did the Singapore today, and it was all worth it. It was worth it. Thank you guys. I love you guys. I’ll never be able to repay what you guys have done for me. So, I’m gonna keep going, and I’m going to keep working hard for you guys. Thank you.
