Late Barbie Hsu’s Husband Addresses Inheritance Speculations—Laments Blatant Fake News

DJ Koo, also known as CLON‘s Koo Jun Yup, has since responded to the raging speculations that followed the sudden and shocking passing of his Meteor Garden actress and first-love-turned-wife, Barbie Hsu.
On February 6, 2025 (KST), DJ Koo took to Instagram and wrote that he is “in debilitating pain” after losing Barbie Hsu on February 2. While he did not want to post on social media while in mourning, he decided to speak up to clear the air so that his late wife could rest in peace.

On February 2, 2025, my angel returned to the heavens.
First, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has mourned for Xiyuan. Right now, I’m going through a time of indescribable sorrow. I’m in such debilitating pain, it feels like I’m being torn apart from the inside. I have neither the strength nor the desire to say anything.
However, even before I could begin to process this immense grief of this loss, some heartless people have begun to slander my wife and family. Some people have been pretending to care as they wander in the rain for news, while others are simply tarnishing my family’s name by spreading blatant fake news about insurance and other financial details—breaking our hearts even more.
It terrifies me to realize that such horrible people exist in this world. I beg you, please. Can you please let Xiyuan rest in peace? I sincerely, desperately ask this of you.

After Barbie Hsu’s passing, media outlets from all over the world reported on speculations surrounding who would receive her inheritance of ₩120 billion KRW (about $83.0 million USD). Publicly slamming those spreading blatant fake news, DJ Koo then revealed that his mother-in-law (Barbie Hsu’s mother) will be receiving his share of the inheritance.
DJ Koo also commented that he believes it is his duty now to protect the family members that Barbie Hsu loved—pleading with the public to let her rest in peace.

I would also like to clarify some things about the precious legacy Xiyuan left behind. Everything she left behind was earned through her hard work and dedication to protecting the family she loved. Therefore, I intend to grant whatever authority I have over it to my mother-in-law.
As for the children’s shares, I will work with an attorney to ensure that their rights remain legally protected until they come of age, keeping them safe from any malicious individuals.
The time I spent with Xiyuan was invaluable, a gift of life that I would never trade for anything in this world. I believe that my final duty is to protect the family that Xiyuan loved so dearly.
To all those who have shown love and mourned for Xiyuan, I express my sincerest gratitude.
From Xiyuan’s eternal love, Jun Jun.
