MBC‘s new ongoing K-Drama Bitter Sweet Hell (also known as Our House), directed by Lee Dong Hyun and starring Kim Hee Sun, Lee Hye Young, Kim Nam Hee, and Yeonwoo, premiered on May 24, 2024.

No Yeong-Won (Kim Hee-Seon) is a psychology consultant and a celebrity. Her personal life is just as impressive as her work career. She is married to Jae-Jin (Kim Nam-Hee), who is a successful doctor. He is considerate and sympathetic as a husband and a parent. Although No Yeong-Won is envied by others, she has frequent conflicts with her mother-in-law Hong Sa-Gang (Lee Hye-Young). Her mother-in-law is a writer of mystery books. She is charismatic and sensitive.

This dark comedy-drama also stars DKZ‘s (formerly known as DONGKIZ) Jaechan as Choi Do Hyun, Young Won (Kim Hee Seon) and Jae Jin’s (Kim Nam Hee) son. Jaechan is also currently appearing in JTBC‘s My Sweet Mobster (also known as Woman Who Plays With).

A recent plot twist surrounding Jaechan’s character has shaken the internet.

In Bitter Sweet Hell, Do Hyun appeared to have a relationship with So Yi (Han Sung Min), who was assumed to be his girlfriend. It was also suspected he got her pregnant.

Yet, in Episode 9, Do Hyun confessed to his mother that he likes not So Yi but his male friend, Jun Ho.

The clip soon went viral, with over 1M views on TikTok and hundreds of thousands of views on X (formerly Twitter). Viewers were excited that his character had come out as gay, especially since it’s Pride Month. Many fans praised Jaechan’s acting in the emotional scene.

Bitter Sweet Hell viewers were certainly not expecting the plot twist, although Jaechan had teased there would be one. Netizens are saying it rivals K.Will’s famous “Please Don’t…” MV.
