eaJ Gets Real About Struggle With Sobriety

Recently, eaJ (also known as DAY6‘s Jae) opened up about his struggle with sobriety.
EaJ posted a TikTok and revealed to his followers that he had started drinking alcohol to cope with feelings of brokenness. He ultimately became so dependent on alcohol to get him through each day that he “drowned” in it and would sometimes even wake up in a bed full of empty cans and bottles.
In January, I started drinking… a lot. I was broke and broken. I spiraled into a habit of never wanting to think and thus I just drowned myself whenever I could and tbh it scared the hell out of me. Can’t tell you how many times I woke up in a bed of empty bottles and cans.

Thankfully, eaJ has been on a path of recovery. Surrounding himself with good people helped him become sober again and develop a better mindset.
And that’s when I wrote this song. Life can really suck and it’s definitely not fair but you are not alone. Cause it turns out I didn’t have to be. I found a team that genuinely cared and believed in me and they helped me get EVERYTHING on track. In the 4 months I started working with my new team, I was able to
1. Break the habit
2. Get my mental back
3. DO SO MANY COOL PROJECTS LIKE THE RIOT SONG AND MSI AND CROWN AND I HECKING LOVE MY LIFE NOW

This experience inspired eaJ to write his new song “sober go away.” It is from his first official solo EP laughing in insomnia, which was released on Friday, February 3. It includes a total of six songs, such as “sober go away” and the title track “typical story.”
