ENHYPEN’s Jungwon Apologizes For His Comment On College Entrance Exams
ENHYPEN‘s Jungwon recently made headlines due to a comment he made on live stream. As the boys went live on the day that the college entrance exams in South Korea ended, Jungwon had jokingly commented that those who did not do well on the exams might be tuning in.
The ones who are here watching this VLIVE could be the ones who didn’t do well on the CSATs, right?
— Jungwon
Although Sunghoon quickly stepped in to explain that the live stream could be a source of comfort for those that did not do well, due to the serious nature of the exams, the general public were not too happy about Jungwon’s statement. The CSATs in South Korea are a make- it-or-break-it matter for many and it would not be an exaggeration to say that it is one of the most important moments of a South Korean’s life.
Due to the strong backlash, Jungwon issued an apology a day after the live stream, on November 19 2021. He apologized for his words and promised to do his best for the upcoming fanmeeting as well as to be more cautious in the future.
ENGENE, hello, this is Jungwon.
I’m writing a post as there is something I want to say to ENGENE before the fanmeeting today.
I wish to apologize about what I said on the live stream yesterday that was not deeply considerate of the test takers.
With the fanmeeting soon, I had been nervous and also excited as we would be able to meet everyone personally for the first time in a long time, and I was not considerate of how the test takers, that have been suffering for a long time, felt. I felt that I am still very immature and insufficient. I’m sorry.
If there are any of you that will be coming to the fanmeeting today, I will do my best so that you can enjoy it happily.
In the future, I will become a Jungwon who is even more cautious and deep in thought.
