Fans Express Worry As EVERGLOW Nears 500 Days Since Their Last Comeback

As of the time of this writing, it has been 489 days since K-Pop girl group EVERGLOW had their last comeback.

Their last release, “Pirate”, came out on December 1, 2021. Prior to their current hiatus, they consistently had two comebacks each year since they debuted in early 2019 — “Bon Bon Chocolat” and “Adios” in 2019, “DUN DUN” and “LA DI DA” in 2020, and “First” and “Pirate” in 2021.

In early 2022, however, member Yiren went back to her home country of China, allegedly to be gone for only a month in order to visit her parents. However, a month turned into several, and throughout the year, aside from some live performances, EVERGLOW was relatively quiet as a group. Fans even became concerned that Yiren would end up leaving the group completely due to her long hiatus, but she did finally return in November 2022, just in time for EVERGLOW to release a collab with TheFatRat.

This collaboration, “Ghost Light”, was the only music they released in 2022, and now, over a quarter into 2023, fans are growing concerned again about EVERGLOW’s lack of comeback announcements. Many were hopeful that Yiren’s return would mean a comeback in the near future, but a scheduled four-stop tour in Southeast Asia in December was even cancelled for unspecified reasons and no new music has really been hinted at apart from a few vague comments.

Recently, a Reddit post was made about EVERGLOW’s ongoing hiatus, with the author of the post expressing their concern for what may happen to the girl group in the future. They even compared it to BLACKPINK‘s notorious hiatus lengths, which are known to be frustratingly long these days.

Some comments seem to be somewhere in the middle, unsure just how much hope they should be putting into EVERGLOW but not totally pessimistic about their return.
