EXO's Baekhyun Is The First SM Entertainment Solo Artist To Reach This Gaon Chart Achievement

From the moment EXO Baekhyun‘s solo album was released, it set record after record and although it’s been a few months since then, Baekhyun and City Lights haven’t slowed down one bit!

On September 12, Gaon Chart made some announcements in regards to platinum certifications. Last year, Gaon implemented a new certification system for album sales, song downloads, and online streaming with a platinum certification being awarded to an album with over 250,000 sales and 2.5 million downloads or 100 million streams.

Earning a platinum certification is not an easy task but when Gaon released their list of platinum-certified albums, Baekhyun not only reached platinum status but he reached double-platinum status, meaning that his first mini-album sold over 500,000 copies!

This impressive feat also meant that Baekhyun had set a couple of new records among SM Entertainment artists. With his double-platinum status, Baekhyun became the first SM Entertainment soloist to achieve this! Additionally, Baekhyun is only the second SM Entertainment artist ever to accomplish this feat, only having been beaten to the achievement by EXO!

Gaon also gave EXO-Ls another reason to celebrate by announcing that EXO’s unstoppable duo, EXO-SC had also taken home a platinum certification with their first mini-album What a Life!
