EXO-CBX Responds To SM Entertainment’s Statement Regarding Tampering— Netizens React
On June 10 at 4 PM KST, EXO’s Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin’s (EXO-CBX) agency INB100 held an emergency press conference at the Shilla Hotel to report claims of unfair treatment by SM Entertainment.
SM Fails To Keep Promise About EXO-CBX’s Music Distribution Fees
Not long after, SM Entertainment denied the claims made by EXO‘s Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin in their emergency press conference and claimed they wanted all the benefits without any of the drawbacks.
EXO-CBX’s agency INB100 refuted SM’s claims in a statement.
It is unfortunate that SM has once again claimed tampering from Chairman Cha Ga Won and CEO Shin Dong Hyun. We demand SM to disclose the standards for what is tampering. We will take strong legal against SM who claims tampering, including all civil and criminal charges for defamation and the spread of false information.
Below is the full statement from INB100.
“We apologize to Chairman Cha Ga Won and CEO Shin Dong Hyun for SM once again making tampering claims and request that SM disclose its standards for tampering.
We will also take strong legal action against SM for the tampering claims, including civil and criminal charges for defamation and the spread of false information.
It just seems petty now that a large company such as SM forgets the main issue and nitpicks other things.
SM is not qualified as an entertainment agency as it is framing its own artists, EXO-CBX, as tampering. EXO-CBX has given up the exclusive contract fee in order to continue EXO activities with SM Entertainment.
With today’s press conference, we are demanding once again from SM Entertainment.
We demand SM to clearly state the grounds for what is considered tampering. Is it considered tampering when artists receive advice and counseling from acquaintances, seniors, juniors, and colleagues?
Baekhyun met with people for advice to start his own company. SM’s tampering claims don’t make sense as he was trying to set up a one-man company.
However, Baekhyun, who originally wanted to start a one-man company, felt he could not fulfill both artist and management positions and decided to leave management to a trusted expert in order to chase his dreams of being both an artist and producer.
If SM cannot provide any reasonable refutation, stop making petty claims that have nothing to do with the main issue.
Lastly, SM needs to disclose the basis for settlement, which is the most basic right of the artists, and not distort the situation at hand.
If SM continues to not disclose the data, we will file a request for an injunction. INB100 will do its best to protect the artists.”
Netizens felt more confused reading the statement and couldn’t believe it was written by their legal representative.
- “What are they saying….I don’t understand.”
- “Why are they being so sloppy…just pay the fee and get out.”
- “Is this really the statement they released with a lawyer?”
- “Is this really the agency’s official statement? Does the agency not have a single person that can write correctly?”
- “Is this really a statement that was written by a lawyer? Aside from the context, what’s with the wording?”
- “They wrote this with a lawyer? Really?”
- “What are they trying to say.”
- “They shouldn’t have renewed contracts…”
- “You can see their level just by the way it’s written.”
- “This is their refutation towards SM? It just looks exactly like what they said at the press conference.”
- “I can’t read through all that…”
- “You guys are the ones saying unrelated things.”
- “What are they saying…what kind of statement is that?”
