EXO Kai’s Pants Get Torn Into Over 1,000 Pieces… To Be Used As Fan Merch
Korean entertainment companies can get creative when it comes to official K-Pop merchandise. They can range anywhere from lightsticks, clothing, and accessories to more unconventional pieces like trash cans, fish sticks, and ice cube trays.
However, SM Entertainment might be joining the ranks of having some of the most unusual merch in the modern K-Pop era with their recent offering for fans of EXO‘s Kai!
It turns out that a pair of pants he wore for his solo concert LYNK-POP: THE VR CONCERT KAI on January 14 earlier this year has been torn into 1,130 pieces… And each piece will be given out to a fan.
The tiny pieces of fabric were used to make keychains, and appear to be part of a bundle that Kai’s fans can purchase.
While some fans are reacting positively to the unique merch, others are a bit more skeptical and weirded out by it.
But it turns out, it’s not the weirdest piece of merch that SM Entertainment has ever come up with! Many years ago, the members of first-generation K-Pop group H.O.T. reportedly had to give their own blood and hair to create a “DNA & Protein” merch set that included a necklace with their literal DNA inside it. However, there is more to the story and it turns out it actually wasn’t as strange as it sounded.
Here’s how netizens are reacting to the torn-up jeans merch from Kai!
