EXO’s “Ko Ko Bop” Confirmed To Have Been Written For Red Velvet
EXO’s “Ko Ko Bop”, released in 2017, is considered one of their most successful comebacks to date.
Fans love it for its iconic lyrics, dance, and beat.
Two years later, an interesting fact about “Ko Ko Bop” is making EXO-Ls interested all over again. Producer Styalz Fuego revealed that song was originally meant for Red Velvet!
He explained that the key was made higher to fit Red Velvet’s tone.
k-pop random fact: @weareoneEXO – Ko Ko Bop was originally written for Red Velvet, the key was 3 notes higher but was then pitched down to suit EXO https://t.co/L1wV0qXkmv

The demo itself was made using a female voice, making it believable that the female group would have done well had it been given to them.
Fans could imagine what parts some of the members would have gotten.

Red Velvet was presumably given their now-iconic song “Red Flavor” instead.
They promoted it a few weeks before EXO’s “Ko Ko Bop” was released on July 18, 2017.
