A Fan Shares An Alleged “Rude” Interaction With TWICE’s Jihyo, Leading To Discussion About Approaching Idols During Their “Off-Time”
Recently, on an online forum, a fan of TWICE shared about an interaction they had allegedly had with Jihyo, that did not go as planned.
On the community r/kpoprants, a user shared that they attended the Chicago stop of TWICE’s Ready To Be world tour and ran into Jihyo and Nayeon in a store the following day.
“The day after the concert (today) I went to supreme the clothing store because my sister wanted a gift when I came back and as I was browsing I literally felt my whole body shake when I noticed Jihyo and Nayeon in the store with their entourage.
I told myself to not die and keep it cool. They were dressed chill with no makeup on and I know they were probably super tired from touring plus all the projects they were working on. So I decided that I would tell them that I loved their concert yesterday and was a fan.”
After deciding they would approach Jihyo while she was sitting, they walked up to her and shared that they had enjoyed the concert the previous day. Allegedly, according to the user, Jihyo gave them a “dirty look and said ‘thank you’ in a really condescending tone.”
“So I after I was done checking out I decided to tell Jihyo since Nayeon was busy talking to the supreme employee. I walked up to her while she was sitting chilling and said I loved your concert yesterday, before I could say anything else she gave me a really dirty look and said « thank you » in a really condescending tone and looked at me with a face of disgust.”
They shared that after the alleged encounter, they felt very bad about the situation and needed to vent about it online, which was why they wrote the post.
“I immediately left and tried to not die of embarrassment. I felt less than human and all it took was for her to look at me a certain way. My cousin was with me and witnessed the whole thing. She was mad at the situation and had a huge problem with it but I really didn’t want her to not like twice so I told her she was probably having a bad day.
Anyways now I’m on my way home, I couldn’t forget the situation so I’m writing this post hoping that I could get it out and move on …”
Other K-Pop fans commented on the post and shared their perspective, saying, first off, the OP (original poster) did not seem to have approached Jihyo rudely.

Several disagreed with the OP approaching her, saying it’s best to give idols their space when seen in public, as they are not “on the clock.” With how bad the issues with sasaengs can often be, it is understandable why this would be a perspective some fans have.

Some commented that Jihyo (and the other members) were probably exhausted from the concert and that that was what the OP interpreted as a “dirty look.”

Another fan shared a reminder that idols are also human, and like others commented, Jihyo is not fully fluent in English and that the interaction could have been a misunderstanding.

The consensus on the post was that neither did wrong during the situation, but what’s your opinion?
