Aside from being siblings, many felt that their drive and outlook on life were similar. In the clip from a video posted two years ago, she revealed how she overcame her time studying abroad.

“I lived with my cousins at my uncle’s house. Since I was with family, I didn’t feel lonely, but my cousins couldn’t speak Korean at all, so I felt slightly lonely and quite homesick.

If you’re lonely, write in a diary. There is no one else who will listen anyway. You need to endure it. You decided to study abroad and wanted to live an improved life because it’s the path you chose to learn a new language. You just need to endure it.

But being lonely is difficult. My mom told me not to call her if I’m going to speak Korean. So, I wrote a lot in my diary. There was a lot of cursing in my diary. When you’re lonely, I recommend writing in a diary.

And if you endure that time, you will have acquired skills that others don’t have. Look forward to that and endure to become a winner.”

Many fans were inspired by her message and felt that this type of mindset was in their family DNA.

Her message left a big impression, so I’m sharing it here. I think this is the family DNA. The way they endure, overcome, and persevere to become a winner. It’s amazing that she was the first Korean exchange student at her high school in Texas and that he mother told her not to call if she was going to speak Korean. Since she is four years older than J-Hope, this must’ve been when he was in elementary school. I believe in the DNA of tenacity.
