K-Pop Boy Group Fans Call For HYBE To Change KATSEYE’s Fandom Name

It overlaps with a boy group’s name.

KATSEYE recently made a successful debut on M!Countdown, marking their first foray into South Korean promotions.

Originally a global group debuted between HYBExGEFFEN through Dream Academy, the girls started off with a larger international fanbase compared to Korean. Lately, with the success of “Touch,” their Korean popularity has been soaring. With their growing recognition in South Korea, some fans of the K-Pop boy group iKON have brought up the issue of KATSEYE’s fandom name. Their fandom name is currently EYEKON, or EYEKONS for plural. The singular form is pronounced and written exactly the same as iKON.

Can’t they change the fandom name of HYBE’s new girl group, FR? People on X are fighting all day and everyday about it. This name fanwar, makes me so sick, so much that I have 0 confidence in fighting against that overweight juicy pig… Please just change it… Every time I see it on my suggested posts, I get so upset… This is ours… Ah, I’m getting ill again.

What’s worse is that all the members of iKON are currently serving in the military. They are likely to not know about the matter.

Please consider it well, HYBE. All the iKON members are in the army… They don’t know what is going on… Then they’ll be discharged… And they’ll go to promote on music shows… And if that girl group makes a comeback… They would be like ‘EYEKONS, we missed you!’ and iKON will be backstage thinking that they are their fans. That’s so embarrassing! This is literally the worst case scenario for overlapping names in K-Pop.

Their complain has hit over 990,000 views on X. Other fandoms chimed in regarding HYBE’s alleged lack of consideration when it comes to naming.

Wow, they did this again? ONEUS is still active, but they debuted a group called TWS (‘Two-us’ in Korean), they named ILLIT’s fandom Lillies and got cursed out so they changed it. That was so recent too. F*ck, they literally have no morals at all. All their names are like parody names of real idols that appear in webtoons. F*cking insincere of them.

Previously, ILLIT‘s fandom name was announced to be Lillies. Due to an overlap with NMIXX‘s Lily, as well as BLACKPINK Lisa‘s fandom name, they eventually re-announced it as GLLIT.
