On August 28, 2024 (KST), it was announced that member Taeil was removed from NCT related to an “unspecified sex crime.”

While looking into the situation, we recognized that the issue is very serious, and we have decided that Taeil could no longer continue team activities. We have discussed this matter with Taeil and it has been decided he will be removed from the group.

In the immediate time following, members of NCT began unfollowing Taeil, with Taeyong going so far as to also remove photos with Taeil in them.

Several fan accounts on X that were dedicated to Taeil have since closed, withdrawing their support for him and offering support to others. Taeil’s China Bar also announced its closure following the news.

Fans have even begun destroying merch items featuring the idol, setting things like photocards on fire.

Fans’ withdrawal of support has also been seen in his Instagram account following. Previously, the idol had over 6 million followers, and he is currently at around 5.5 million—a loss of 500,000 so far.
