200+ Female Idols Found In Deepfake Porn, Netizens Disgusted

Recently, an international spotlight has been placed on alleged sex crimes taking place in Korea. These crimes, collectively called “The New Nth Room,” consist of different Telegram-based chatrooms with two different purposes.

Massive chatrooms with the intention of humiliating women, sometimes even family members, were first brought to attention, with school chatrooms used for sending sexual deep fakes of classmates gaining attention shortly after.

In the process of spreading awareness of the crimes taking place, netizens have brought to attention that hundreds of female idols are the victims of deep fake porn.

According to a Security Hero report shared by the Wall Street Journal, South Korea is the most vulnerable country to deepfake sexual crimes. The report found that of nearly 96,000 videos from ten deepfake porn sites and 85 deepfake channels on video-sharing platforms analyzed over two months, 53% of the individuals appearing in deepfake pornography were Korean singers and actors.

Several tweets on X have spread awareness of these deep fake sites created for female K-Pop idols. One website, in particular, features the names of over 100 female idols from nearly every generation of K-Pop, including several fifth-generation groups.

The deepfakes are pornographic, showing idols’ faces imposed over pre-existing sexual content or real photos of the stars edited to appear nude. The site has been continually updated, featuring new images uploaded on the day this article was written.

There are also multiple sites with this sort of content available, in addition to general porn sites. Netizens have shared their disgust, urging the agencies of the idols to take action against these deepfake images.
