On March 21, the network released an official statement in response to the many calls for the cancellation of UNDER FIFTEEN over concerns of commodification and sexualization of children. The show, which was originally scheduled to premiere on March 31, has faced intense public backlash over the baffling young age of all its participants.

In its official statement, MBN informed viewers that they were seriously mulling over the concerns presented by the public regarding the show and were in the process of reviewing its content and broadcast plan.

Meanwhile, UNDER FIFTEEN is described as the “world’s first audition to discover K-pop prodigies under the age of 15.” The makers of the show reportedly wanted to create the youngest K-Pop girl group whose average age would be younger than NewJeans when they debuted.
