Fifth-Generation Female Idol Sparks Controversy With Her Comments About Marriage And Childbirth
QWER‘s Siyeon has come under backlash for her comments about marriage and having children.
During a recent broadcast that Siyeon appeared on, she was asked about marriage and having children with the question, “Get married to give birth to a cute daughter?
Siyeon sparked a huge response from fans as she seemingly agreed with the statement, explaining, “Humans are born to reproduce.”
“It is our duty to reproduce.”
She seemed to continue to push forward this narrative as she finally pointed out, “We get married to fulfill that duty of reproduction.”
Considering the discourse around birth rates in Korea, it’s not surprising that her comments became a hot topic and sparked a huge discussion. While some acknowledged they were her own views, most criticized the idol for her thoughts but found it hard to stan a female idol with such traditional views and say them so publically.
- “If that’s how she feels, shouldn’t she have already gotten married and reproduced by now? LMAO.”
- “F*cked up… Completely f*cked.”
- “This group is… something else. TBH, if anyone says they stan this group, I’m going to judge them real f*cking hard.”
- “It’s crazy how a person’s views can change depending on who they surround themselves with. Haha. No wonder she’s part of an incel-fueled idol. She knows how to answer questions to float their boats.”
- “Let her reproduce if she wants to reproduce… Maybe she wants ten kids.”
- “I know it’s her opinion, and she’s not my friend or anything, so I have no right to say sh*t about it. And I don’t really want to, either. But I do know that I will never, ever want to stan a girl group that has those beliefs. That being said, I wish people would stop posting about this group.”
- “No, no, no… Please stop reproducing for the planet and the human race… We’re at 8 billion right now. And we’ve been saying the planet’s overpopulated when that number was at 6 billion. Stop making more humans.”
- “If that’s what she thinks, that’s what she thinks. At least she knows what she wants. Haha.”
- “I hope she produces tons of cute daughters.”
