FIFTY FIFTY’s Agency Files Criminal Complaint Against Interviewee On “Unanswered Question”
The ongoing legal battle between breakthrough fourth-generation girl group FIFTY FIFTY and their agency, ATTRAKT, has another development. The agency recently revealed that they have taken legal action against an individual who appeared on an episode of SBS’s investigative show Unanswered Question and made certain claims about the company.
On August 19, SBS’s Unanswered Question released its investigative findings regarding FIFTY FIFTY’s legal dispute with ATTRAKT. The much-awaited episode, however, ended up receiving huge public backlash after it was reported that they didn’t do the research properly, and some of the claims made on the show were proven to be falsified. The Korea Communications Standards Commission received a flood of complaints after the episode was aired, making Unanswered Question the most complained-about show on Korean television.
The individual, “A,” getting sued by ATTRAKT, was one of the interviewees who appeared in this episode and claimed to be an internal source affiliated with the company and made false statements about the CEO, Jeon Hong Joon. In particular, Mr. A remarked that CEO Jeon was negligent of his duties and treated FIFTY FIFTY’s hit song “Cupid” as a quick cash grab.
After the episode was aired, ATTRAKT contested the legitimacy of Mr. A’s connection with them, claiming that the entire interview was false. Additionally, Dispatch released multiple pieces of evidence that implied the entire episode of Unanswered Questions was full of biases and factual lapses, and some of Mr. A’s claims were disproved through those.
The agency’s legal representative stated that this individual’s false statements were detrimental to Jeon’s image and reputation. On October 11, Jeon filed a formal complaint against “A” with the Gangnam Police Station. A spokesperson from ATTRAKT told the media that they are going to pursue this case with “no leniency” against Mr. A.
