A First-Generation K-Pop Idol Is Mosaicked Out Of A Group Shot Because Of His Past
Recently, a mosaic appearing over a specific member of an idol group during a broadcast gained attention.
On August 26, the KBS2 variety show Mr. House Husband featured singer Hyun Jin Young meeting with senior singer Park Nam Jung and the girl group STAYC. Park Nam Jung is STAYC member Sieun‘s father.
During the broadcast, Hyun Jin Young mentioned that he has a lot of notable juniors. When he said this, clips of his juniors’ music videos played as footage. Clips of music videos by BoA, TVXQ, and Shinhwa played, however, attention was drawn to a scene from Shinhwa’s music video for their song “All Your Dreams.”
Unlike the other Shinhwa members, member Shin Hyesung‘s face was blurred.
Shin Hyesung’s face being blurred has to do with his drunk driving incident in October of last year. He was arrested for falling asleep while driving another person’s car after a night of drinking in the Gangnam district. He was charged with violations of the Road Traffic Act for refusing to undergo a breathalyzer test and illegal use of a vehicle. He was sentenced to six months in prison with a one-year probation period.
As a result of his DUI, the KBS Broadcasting Regulation Committee decided in April to suspend Shin Hyesung from appearing on broadcasts. In December of last year, he received a temporary suspension from appearing on broadcasts as a disciplinary action.
His last DUI wasn’t the first time Shin Hyesung was caught drinking and driving. In 2007, he was caught drunk driving, and his blood alcohol level at the time was 0.0097%, exceeding the limit for license suspensions.
Shinhwa is a popular first-generation male idol group that debuted in 1998 under SM Entertainment. Shin Hyesung was the main vocalist of the group and debuted as a solo artist in 2005.
