First-Generation K-Pop Idol Will Use AI To Bring Back Deceased Member’s Voice
Rapper, producer, and first-generation idol Lee Hyun Do recently announced that he will use artificial intelligence to bring back his deceased member’s voice.
Lee Do Hyun was a member of Deux, a hip-hop duo that debuted in 1993. Along with his fellow member Kim Sung Jae, the duo released three albums until they disbanded.
Lee Do Hyun and Kim Sung Jae were pursuing solo careers when Kim Sung Jae passed away in a mysterious death right after his solo debut in 1995. He was discovered in a hotel room with 28 needle marks on his right arm—this was peculiar because he was right-handed.
On December 5, the festival NEW X Music Festival shared Lee Hyun Do’s interview video on their social media.
In the video, Lee Do Hyun shared that he is working on his fourth album which will feature his deceased member’s voice.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Deux, I am participating in the NEW X Music Festival… I am currently working on my fourth album featuring the voice of the late Kim Sung Jae implemented through artificial intelligence.

He also revealed that he will share the stage with the rock band H2O, a band that debuted in 1986 and was active until 1993. In 1993, H2O and Deux showcased a unique hip-hop and rock collaboration by working together on the track “Go Go Go” from Deux’s second album Deuxism.
The NEW X Music Festival will take place on December 9 and 10 and will feature Lee Hyun Do, as well as popular 1990s and early 2000s K-Pop groups such as Taesaja, Click B, Roo’ra, and singers Kim Hyun Joong and Wax.
