First K-Pop Group To Audition For Western Talent Show Met With Mixed Reactions
Spoiler Alert
Talent shows are a popular genre, meaning that nearly every country with a big enough entertainment industry hosts its own. One of the most well-known worldwide series is the Got Talent series, which is named after the country in which it takes place.
One of the most watched is Britain’s Got Talent, which features industry legend Simon Cowell.
For a first-time occurrence, the latest season featured a K-pop group auditioning for the show!
In 2021, Wuzo Entertainment debuted the boy group BLITZERS, which is currently made up of six members.
Earlier this year, fans discovered that the K-Pop group were likely auditioning for the show after members were spotted on Britain’s Got Talent‘s Instagram.
As the show was recorded in advance, fans were left waiting for the episode featuring their audition to air, and it finally did on May 18. BLITZERS performed a cover of Shawn Mendes‘s “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” with the addition of a rap verse.
The group’s performance received “yes” votes from each of the judges, meaning they would be considered by the judges for advancement to the show’s semi-finals.
Fans of the group praised the performance, saying how happy they were to see them on the show.
However, non-fans viewing the show had very different opinions, overwhelming the Britain’s Got Talent X account post about BLITZERS with criticism about the performance.
Vocals were horrendous…just me? #BGT #BLITZERS

Why did no one, especially Simon point out the singing was not that good with the KPOP group? Rapidly going off #BGT

They are just a very poor version of KPop #bgt #BritainsGotTalent

It has not been stated if BLITZERS will advance to the next round, but this is a big accomplishment for the group regardless!
