Forbes Names BTS’s Jin “The Most Successful Male Artist” In K-Pop
All seven BTS members are no strangers to producing solo music…
Still, most of the time, their songs are released as part of the group’s discography.
For example, Jin‘s “Epiphany” and “Moon” were both released on BTS albums Love Yourself: Answer and Map of the Soul: 7, respectively.
The rap line is an exception in that all three rappers released solo mixtapes.
Meanwhile, the vocalists have released the occasional solo song on platforms such as YouTube and SoundCloud.
This year especially, we’ve been extra blessed by the members. In November, Jin released his OST for K-Drama Jirisan “Yours.”
For his birthday, December 4, he released his original trot song, “Super Tuna.” And, it instantly took over the internet.
Despite being vastly different, both songs have been met with tremendous success.
While it’s been out just a month, “Yours” has already proved to be the favorite OST of 2021. Genius Korea has already included it on a couple of its end-of-the-year rankings.
Now, “Yours” and “Super Tuna” both have been charting worldwide. This has earned the attention of music publications and even widely known business magazines, such as Forbes.
Recently, Forbes published an article highlighting Jin’s achievements with his new solos. In just the first paragraph, they referred to him as “the most successful male artist from his field.”
Just a few weeks ago, BTS member Jin showed the world how beloved he is by fans with an unexpected and rare chart hit in America. Now, he’s back with another smash to his name, and by doubling his wins on one particular Billboard ranking, he becomes the most successful male artist from his field.

Billboard Hot Trending Songs chart is still relatively new. It was first introduced in October of this year. Already, Jin has made history, becoming the K-Pop male artist with the most hits charted so far.
Jin’s song ‘Super Tuna’ debuts on this week’s Hot Trending Songs chart, Billboard’s ranking of the most-talked-about tunes on Twitter in the previous tracking frame. The cut opens at No. 12, arriving as the third-highest start out of half a dozen debuts.

So far, EXO‘s Kai, GOT7‘s Mark Tuan, BTS‘s Jungkook, and ASTRO‘s MJ have all made their debuts on the chart with solos. Still, Jin is the only one to have two songs included at once.
As ‘Super Tuna’ arrives, Jin’s own ‘Yours’ continues to find space on the 20-spot Hot Trending Songs chart as well. This time around, it drops from No. 12 to No. 18 in its fifth frame on the social media-based ranking. The tune peaked at No. 5, and it is one of the longest-running wins among solo stars from the K-pop world in the short time Billboard has been publishing the list.

Especially when one considers that “Super Tuna” was just released for fun as a birthday gift from himself to ARMY, Jin’s achievement is so admirable. It’s not even available to stream on major music streaming platforms like Spotify. Instead, ARMYs are listening through YouTube or SoundCloud.
We’re so incredibly proud of Jin!
