Former DIA Member Somyi Sentenced To Prison For False Accusations Of Sexual Assault
The former DIA member Somyi has been sentenced to a prison term for falsely accusing her current company’s CEO of sexual assault.
According to reports on March 21, the idol-turned-streamer was sentenced by the Seoul Central District Court’s Criminal 2nd Division to one year and six months in prison for the crime.
The case was first reported in February when news outlets revealed that an ex-idol-turned-BJ was put on trial on charges of false accusation. In early March, her identity was unveiled as Somyi. She had filed a complaint with the police against her agency’s CEO, Mr. B, for attempted sexual assault. The case was initially dismissed, but Somyi filed an appeal, leading the police to review CCTV footage from the day of the alleged assault.
In her complaint, Somyi claimed that she had pushed CEO B and ran out of the office after the incident. However, the CCTV footage showed her walking out of the room where she was with “B” very calmly. She was also around inside the office and hugged the CEO. Based on this evidence, the prosecution argued that Somyi had fabricated the allegations.
The prosecutors also believed that Somyi had a motive to falsely accuse “B,” stating that she was trying to pressure the CEO to break up with the woman they were seeing at that time. The former idol, however, denied this claim. Somyi’s lawyer argued that the judgment was being made based on the reductive idea of a “perfect victim.” They also argued that on the night of the incident, she was drinking and devoid of the capability of making a sound judgment.
The court, however, found her claims inconsistent with the surveillance footage and sentenced her to prison for making false accusations.
The victim’s statement is generally consistent with both the investigative and the court, whereas the defendant’s statement is inconsistent and does not align with the CCTV footage, thus undermining its credibility…The crime of false accusation is a serious offense that can subject the innocent defendant to unfair criminal punishment. The defendant’s act of falsely accusing and making false statements to investigative agencies was morally reprehensible.

Meanwhile, after leaving DIA, Somyi made a career shift in 2022 to become an adult BJ (broadcasting jockey) on Panda TV. She had joined CEO B’s company that manages multiple BJs.
