There’s more to idol’s music show pay than previously thought.

Recently, Victon‘s Hanse made a revelation about idols’ music show promotions that shocked many.

While chatting with fans, Hanse revealed that music show appearances were hard, not only because of scheduling but in large part due to finances. The biggest part of his revelation involved how much idols were paid to appear on music shows, a mere $36 USD.

Many were shocked to discover this, even making it into a joke involving their favorite idols.

However, there is more to this detail that previously thought, as revealed by a former idol.

Many are familiar with Denise as a former member of Secret Number, who is now active on social media as an influencer.

In a recent video, Denise spoke about getting paid as an idol, mentioning that there are many things wrong with K-Pop contracts.

She expressed some shock over how netizens had learned about the $36 USD, seemingly unaware of Hanse’s reveal. She stated that she actually made around $45 USD per music show during her time in the group, and was shocked at the low amount.

When I was an idol, I saw how much that I was getting paid for these music shows. This shocked me. I was like are you sh*tting on my d*ck right now? Like this is insane. For how much is going into this. When I was there the lowest one that I was getting paid was $44-45 USD, if i converted.

Denise then reveals that this number was not per member, but rather split between every member of the group. For Secret Number while Denise was promoting, this meant that the $45 USD was split five ways, meaning each member earned $9 USD.

And yes, this is how much you’re getting paid as a group. You’re splitting this 45 dollars amongst however many members you have.

She continues saying that the purpose is not to make money, but to promote their music. And as Hanse previously expressed, even doing many music shows would not generate more money made due to stage costs.

You’re going ‘oh if you’re doing a lot of music shows I guess this would add up right?’ Wrong, because the amount of money that is going into the outfits, doing the hair and makeup, the food, the coffee, the transportation it’s just not gonna work.
