A former idol rapper was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months of prison time on sexual violence charges. The court reportedly criticized the “severe nature of the crime,” but the rapper has chosen to appeal the verdict. According to legal sources as reported on September 7, 2024, by the Korean media, he submitted the appeal on September 4.

He was given the sentence on August 30, 2024, for violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes by using a camera or other devices to capture and distribute images illegally. He was also ordered by the court to undergo 40 hours of sexual violence treatment and received a 3-year restriction in employment at institutions related to children and individuals with disabilities. His lawyer appealed for leniency, claiming that there was no intention to leak the images. The victims previously requested severe punishment during the sentencing hearing in June 2024.

The three victims were romantically involved with the perpetrator. The former idol offered compensation to two of the victims, who rejected it and instead pleaded for severe punishment. Although the severity of the crime was acknowledged, the court also noted that the former idol seemed remorseful and did not have a prior record, and neither did he distribute the images. He was then sentenced to a year and a half instead of the requested three years.

The former idol was accused of illegally recording the victims during sexual intercourse as well as having taken footage of sensitive body parts of his then-partners. In the case of one of his victims, the rapper filmed her a total of 18 times between July 2022 and May 2023, including content where she was blindfolded.

It was said that the former idol debuted in 2017 and ceased activities due to health reasons in 2019. The group itself is no longer active.
