K-Pop Idol Claims She Was Blindsided By Ex’s Divorce Request

She says she never felt it coming.

In December 2023, former LABOUM member Yulhee and FTISLAND‘s Choi Minhwan filed for divorce, officially ending their five-year marriage. In their divorce, Choi Minhwan took full custody of all three children.

Yulhee is currently appearing on the program All By Myself to discuss her divorce and has faced criticism for doing so. She has also been accused of “hurting her children” in the process of doing so but has shared content showing her relationship with them.

In a new episode of the program, Yulhee discussed how the divorce happened, saying that it felt sudden and unexpected.

I didn’t think there was a crisis, so [the divorce] felt very sudden. I have a lot of good memories, so I never felt like a crisis was coming. From the moment I found out, it was like my own personal hell.

She added that she thought they would be able to overcome it but ultimately chose divorce.

When the idea of divorce first came up, I wanted to overcome it. I thought I could get through the pain and hardship because we loved each other, and because we had children. But as the emotional gap between us grew deeper, we decided to file for divorce for each other’s sake.

When a member of the production staff commented that it must have taken courage to bring up divorce, Yulhee stated that she “didn’t bring it up first, so I don’t know about that.
