Former Miss A’s Jia Reveals She Suffered Through A Tumor Alone After Debut
On July 21, former Miss A member Jia updated her Weibo account with a harrowing revelation: after debut, she suffered a tumor and had to undergo surgery alone.
According to translations from Alisonn (@alisonnpurple/Twitter), Jia decided to share her story with fans after coming across a clip from the Chinese drama Nothing But Thirty. The drama focuses on three women around Jia’s age who are facing different life challenges.
Jia went on to reveal that after she debuted with Miss A in South Korea, she went to the hospital alone to undergo surgery to remove a small tumor.
I recalled an experience I went through. At that time, I had already debuted, and my family was not by my side. I went to the hospital by myself for a small tumor removal surgery.

In her heart wrenching post, Jia did not specify whether the tumor was cancerous or benign, but she did open up about the emotional trauma of going through the situation alone.
Jia was born and raised in China, moving to Seoul when she was recruited by JYP Entertainment at the age of 18. As a result, neither of her parents speak Korean. Due to the language barrier and the fear of worrying her mother, Jia decided to keep the surgery a secret from her family.
Jia also said she had no friends at the time, which meant she had no choice but to go to the hospital for surgery alone. After awakening from the surgery alone, Jia revealed that the loneliness brought her to tears.
I went to hospital by myself, went through the surgery by myself, and waited to wake up form the anesthetic by myself. I held in all the loneliness and grievances. When I couldn’t hold it in anymore, I silently cried.
— Jia
Jia continued to keep the situation from her mother until she was fully recovered. By the time she confessed, her mother was understandably upset that Jia had kept the truth from her for so long.
Thankfully, it seems that Jia is now healthy and well. Upon reading Jia’s story, fans are wondering where JYP Entertainment was at the time and why no one from the company accompanied her through the process.
