Former PRISTIN’s Kyla Addresses SEVENTEEN Dating Rumors, Why She Really Left The Group, And More
Despite PRISTIN disbanding over a year ago, social media has recently been abuzz with numerous rumors surrounding the members—especially Kyla, the group’s Korean-American former lead rapper and maknae. On August 13, the former idol took to Twitter to address all the speculation surrounding PRISTIN dating rumors, why she left the group, and more.
According to Kyla’s statement, fake accounts have been set up on social media in her name, impersonating her with fake screenshots. After taking a step back from Twitter to assess the situation, she says she returned to Twitter to set the record straight.
While I know that regardless of what I say there will still be those who are upset at me, I hope that you do not believe everything that you see on the internet.

First and foremost, Kyla stated that all the dating rumors currently surrounding PRISTIN are false. Twitter had previously been abuzz with rumors that Kyulkyung had dated labelmate SEVETEEN‘s Woozi, and that Eunwoo (now of HINAPIA) dated The Boyz‘s Ju Haknyeon.
I have never stated that certain idols are dating.

Kyla went on to say that she also didn’t date anyone while she was signed under Pledis Entertainment. Fans had long speculated about the possibility of a secret relationship after Kyla’s sister, Karisa, once took to live broadcast to imply that Kyla and SEVENTEEN’s Vernon were an item. According to Kyla, her sister’s comments were all “jokes“.
After clearing up dating rumors, Kyla went on to explain the real reason why she left PRISTIN. While Kyla had always maintained that she took a hiatus and eventually left the group due to health concerns, the true nature of her health was never confirmed.
Now, Kyla has revealed that she left PRISTIN due to a head injury—specifically, a concussion. Back in October 2017, Pledis Entertainment issued a statement telling fans that 15-year-old Kyla had returned to the United States to receive medical treatment. According to her statement, Kyla’s doctor in the U.S. told her that continuing with promotions while injured would have lead to permanent brain damage.
While I was recovering, as many of you know, PRISTIN came to an end.

Finally, Kyla addressed the speculation that she has transphobic beliefs. According to Kyla, the issue was a misunderstanding created by moderators on her Discord server.
I would like to state that I am pro-LGBTQ+… I take full responsibility for the moderator’s actions and sincerely apologize on their behalf as well.

In response to the “slander and malicious comments” surround her, Kyla says she will be leaving Twitter. While she doesn’t know if she will return, she hopes to connect with HIghs (PRISTIN fans) and Klassies (her individual fanbase) in the future.
I would like to clarify that I am not trying to be anyone other than myself. I am living comfortably and following my path in life one step at a time. Whether you choose to follow with me is completely up to you.
