Former SM Rookie Makes Her Acting Debut, Surprising Netizens With Her Visuals
SM Entertainment is home to many different male and female groups. Many idols, including members of Red Velvet, aespa, and NCT, were able to gain pre-debut experience and be exposed to the public through SM Rookies.
While many of the SM Rookies were able to make their debut, many either left the company to debut in another group, like NEWKIDD‘s Hansol or returned to their home countries to pursue careers there, like actress Xu Yiyang.
One of the most loved rookies was Lami (Kim Sungkyung), who was introduced as an SM Rookie in 2013. The trainee even briefly appeared in Red Velvet’s “Happiness” music video and other projects before she was no longer listed as a trainee in 2020.
Fans were disappointed but anticipated the star’s future career, especially when it was hinted that she would debut as an actress before being confirmed in late 2022 by SM Entertainment.
On May 15, the new K-Drama Oh! Youngsim began airing, starring Song Ha Yoon as a single TV variety show PD and Super Junior‘s Donghae as a CEO who had a crush on the lead actress’s character when they were children.
Lami appears in the show as Song’s character’s junior colleague who is also a PD.
