Former T-ARA’s Areum Faces Charges Of Fraud

Former T-ARA member Areum is now facing her second set of charges for fraud.

On June 13, KS, the Gwangmyeong Police Station in Gyeonggi told the media that it had received three separate complaints demanding an investigation into Areum on charges of fraud. The total amount of damage claimed by the three is reported to be around ₩37.0 million KRW (about $26,700 USD).

The first complaint came in March, and then the two other complaints were subsequently forwarded to Gwangmyeong Police Station from other local police stations. All three are now currently being investigated by the police.

Though the details of any of these cases are not known to the public yet, it is likely to be connected to accusations of her and her former boyfriend, Seo, swindling money from her followers. Areum later claimed that she was coerced by Seo into scamming others.

Areum is already facing child abuse charges and was sent to the prosecution without detention for the case. Though Areum had initially claimed that her former husband routinely abused their two sons, the police investigated and cleared him of any wrongdoing. Her ex-husband then countersued Areum, accusing her of child abuse. The police reportedly found evidence to back his claims and forwarded the case to prosecutors
