Girl Group Member Gets Real About Hair Loss—Admits To Getting Transplant Done

In the latest episode of “Workdol” on the Workman YouTube channel, fromis_9‘s Park Jiwon got brutally honest about one of the side effects of being a dolled-up girl group member.

For the episode, Park Jiwon and Baek Jiheon went to “work” as a part-time model at Hanhwa, where the two sat down with some managers to discuss the different insurance options on sale. While discussing Hanhwa’s best-selling coverages, Park Jiwon suggested that the insurance giant look into covering hair loss treatment.

As the managers showed great interest, Park Jiwon then revealed—for the first time, according to herself—that she had to get hair transplants…

Park Jiwon: If we come up with a good idea, will Hanhwa issue an insurance policy using it?

Managers: We’ll try our best.

Park Jiwon: Okay, then… What about insurance for hair loss treatment?

Managers: Oh!

…blaming the high level of damage that idol hairstyles bring to her scalp.

When the managers asked if she would be OK with telling the truth about her hair, Park Jiwon shrugged it off and even revealed how much it cost to get the procedure done.

Park Jiwon: So, here’s the thing. This is the first time I’m talking about this, but… I had to get hair transplants. Right here, on the front side. A lot of people choose to get it done these days.

Manager 1: Isn’t this going to affect your idol work? Talking about your hair transplant?

Park Jiwon: Why not?

Managers: Oh, wow…

Park Jiwon: Er… Was I not supposed to? Where’s my manager? Was that not allowed?

Park Jiwon’s Manager: We’re OK with it, but…

Park Jiwon: Well, it wasn’t a lot. For me, it was all the dyeing and bleaching and hair tying. I started losing a bit of hair from the front. So, I transplanted a small amount. Just a tiny bit. But that still cost me quite a bit.

Manager 2: About how much?

Baek Jiheon: It cost her like ₩2.00 million KRW (about $1,420 USD) to ₩3.00 million KRW (about $2,130 USD).

Park Jiwon: That’s right. How much would insurance be able to cover?

Baek Jiheon: It was this small region and it cost her that much.

Before heading out of the idea meeting to pose for the photoshoot, Park Jiwon asked once again for a good coverage policy that would financially support her fellow hair loss sufferers.
