Forbes has released their yearly 30 Under 30 list, naming some of the top and favorite celebrities in Korea.
In the category of Actors and Athletes of 30 Under 30 Asia, Forbes names Korean celebrities G-Dragon, Girls’ Generation’s Yoona, Super Junior’s Siwon, Kim Soo Hyun, opera singer Lim Hyung Joo, and former Olympic Champion figure skater Yuna Kim.
Primarily featured is G-Dragon with Forbes noting that he is the “brightest K-Pop Star” and that he “stands out for his songwriting abilities and his boundary-pushing fashion sense” with a “loyal international following.” They continue to write, “His original style has made him a front-row fixture at Chanel shows worldwide. He started in the entertainment business at age 5, and it wasn’t exactly a smooth journey before he became a star with the group BIGBANG.”
In addition to the category named above, Forbes also recognized several Koreans under their Finance & Venture Capital of 30 Under 30 Asia, including Tim Chae, a partner in 500 Startups. He joined 500 Startups as an entrepreneur, quickly climbing up as he moved to the investor side in 2014 and became a partner in 2015, launching 500 Startups Korea (500 Kimchi), a $15 million dollar micro-VC fund that invests in emerging businesses in Korea.
