Prestigious Poll Names The Top K-Pop Boy Groups Of The 21st Century
Since the early 2000s, hundreds of male K-Pop idols have risen to fame, but only a few earned a spot on Gallup Korea‘s prestigious “Best National Singer/Group of the 21st Century” list.
Since 2007, Gallup Korea has played an important role in identifying leading figures in various fields, including sports, broadcasting, acting, and music. The results of Gallup Korea’s nationwide survey include K-Pop girl groups, boy groups, and soloists. It was conducted from August 19 to August 23 and surveyed men and women aged 19 to 69.
First-generation idol Seo Taiji (who debuted with Seo Taiji and Boys in the late 1990s) and legendary first-generation boy group g.o.d tied with Girls’ Generation for eighth place. They each received 6% of the vote.
Soloist Na Hoon A claimed the fifth spot on the list with 17% of the vote. Nicknamed the “Emperor of Trot,” he debuted in 1966 and rose to fame in the 1970s.
Chart-topping soloist Lim Young Woong is famous for having one of the most dedicated fanbases in the Korean entertainment industry. He came in fourth place with 18% of the vote.
Cho Yong Pil, who received 33% of the votes, took second place. He debuted as a member of the rock band Atkins in 1968 and ranked #1 on music charts from the 1970s to the 2010s.
Who is the #1 “Best National Singer/Group of the 21st Century?” According to the Gallup Korea survey results, it’s global superstar BTS! Since their debut in 2013, this chart-topping group has broken numerous records and forever changed the K-Pop industry. BTS took the top spot with 43% of the vote.
