(G)I-DLE’s Soyeon Claps Back At Hate Comments In “Nxde”
Inspired by icon Marilyn Monroe and artist Banksy, (G)I-DLE released their “Nxde” music video to challenge the sexualization of women for the male gaze. They also noted the prejudice that comes with it, especially for female K-Pop idols.
And one particular Soyeon scene did just that, clapping back at the hate comments the rapper and the group receives.
At one point in the music video, it transitions into a live broadcast for Soyeon, where the comments of viewers appear on the side of the screen. Eagle-eyed fans took a closer look.
One comment took a jab at the group’s music by calling it “music for dumb people“; another held the prejudice that girl groups only cater to a male audience by claiming “guys don’t like this“; and one said that Soyeon “can’t rap.” In the next moment, Soyeon shut it all down.
Proving that the group will always stay true to themselves, no matter how nasty haters get, Soyeon prepared to metaphorically strip herself bare to keep showing her authentic self.
Like Yuqi‘s past comment that shut down the sexualization of their outfits, Soyeon proved how confident the group is in being themselves and doing whatever they want regardless of haters or the male gaze.
Check out the scene that has fans praising Soyeon for being so direct.
