Recently, the group released the music video for their song “Klaxon.”

One hairstyle particularly caught the attention of fans.

In a video posted on social media for the song’s challenge, Yuqi was dancing and her hair once again caught the attention of fans.

When the video was posted, many thought it was cultural appropriation as she was seemingly wearing box braids. Cultural appropriation is defined as “the unacknowledged or inappropriate adoption of the customs, practices, ideas of one people or society by members of another and typically more dominant people or society.”

As many netizens saw the hair and thought they were box braids, they took to social media to share their anger.

Yet, other fans claimed it wasn’t actually box braids, and while no cultural appropriation was going on, the hairstylist needed to be fired because the hairstyle wasn’t good at all. Many fans even said it was offensive to compare the quality and style of Yuqi’s hair to box braids.
