As viewers have taken in the season, many have discussed the show in depth as they wait for season three to begin. These discussions have led to talk about a potential plot hole that has left many watchers confused or frustrated.

When entering the games, each unconscious participant is processed, including being searched and dressed in the trademark green tracksuit. Season one showed the players having personal items like jewelry removed as they were searched.

The in-depth searching was proven to have continued in season two when Gi Hun realized the tracker placed in his tooth had been removed, though this was later revealed to have been exposed by a spy.

However, during the first game, “Red Light, Green Light,” player Thanos opens a large cross to reveal drugs — which he consumed at different times during the games.

Many expressed confusion over how Thanos could do this, citing how each player is searched before entering.

While some believed that because it looked like simple personal jewelry, it was allowed, others offered a different more sinister explanation. A theory is that the organizers were aware of the drugs, but allowed them in to make the games “more interesting,” something that could be evidenced by another character having a knife.

Thanos while on drugs could definitely be considered “more interesting” and lethal, seen in him pushing people — resulting in their deaths — during “Red Light, Green Light.”
