(G)I-DLE debuted in 2018 and have since become a force in K-Pop. The group’s powerful music, much of which is written by leader Soyeon, is very diverse and hits on topics like female empowerment and challenges harmful norms.

The group is under CUBE Entertainment, which has been criticized for its treatment of the group over the years. Soyeon has even expressed mixed feelings about the company and discussed how one of their hits was almost not released because of Cube.

Recently, fans have noticed something CUBE did that has sparked worries about (G)I-DLE’s future.

In a tweet posted on X, a fan pointed out that CUBE had applied for more items to be included in (G)I-DLE’s trademark properties.

While the items listed seem random, some believe that it is being done to prevent anyone else from selling or dealing with a wide number of goods under the name of (G)I-DLE, including the members of the group.

In December 2016, HIGHLIGHT, then known as Beast, departed from CUBE and set up their own agency.

The group were forced to change their name due to a dispute with CUBE over the trademark, something that was only resolved earlier this year. A month before their departure, CUBE similarly registered items under BEAST’s trademark.

Fans believe this new move by CUBE might point to (G)I-DLE not renewing with the company. If this is the case, this might make it hard for the group to promote under the name, if at all.
