A seemingly innocent exchange between a fan and (G)I-DLE‘s Shuhua on the idol’s Instagram account led to the fan being cyberbullied.

On May 9, a fan left a comment on Shuhua’s Instagram post, promising they’d buy 100 of the bags the idol is endorsing if they get a response.

Shuhua not only responded but also pinned the comment. However, the fan deleted the comment not long after and made a lengthy post on Threads to address the situation.

Hi everyone, I’m the person who said I’d buy 100 of the bags she’s endorsing if she responded to me on her Instagram post. I want to address everyone’s questions.

Firstly, the fan explained why they ended up setting their Instagram account private and deleting the comment.
I actually didn’t want to do this at first. However, many people yelled at me and even made personal attacks against me, and I felt really sad after reading those comments. That’s why I turned my account private and deleted my original comment.

Then, the fan addressed the question, “Shouldn’t you keep your word [and buy the bags]?”
Some people may have realized that what I said was just a joke. Many fans have joked in the same manner previously, and I didn’t know I would get a response. There were a lot of similar comments in the comment section, but perhaps because mine was pinned, everyone started attacking me. Some people criticized me on Threads by tagging me and flaming me directly.

Finally, the fan apologized for what happened and asked people to stop attacking them.
I was ecstatic to have the comment pinned and receive a response from Shuhua, but I didn’t think I’d get flamed because of this. I’m sorry for my immature actions. I shouldn’t have made a joke so casually. I’m really sorry.
I hope everyone stops yelling at me. I know I was wrong, but reading those comments is really saddening. Some people attacked me for my behavior, which I can accept. But some people started attacking my looks and family. This happened because of my own behavior, but I hope everyone stops making personal attacks towards me.

About half a day after the fan wrote the post, Shuhua posted on her Instagram story, seemingly addressing the situation.
“No words from anyone should make us lose a whole day’s worth of happiness. Perhaps you got hurt and are bothered by it; I won’t force you to stop feeling bad about it. The sadness will go away. You need to let off steam. Unhappiness means happiness is on its way. Just wait a little bit. Hopefully, the seemingly little warmth and care will make you smile.
The modern online world is too complicated. Don’t get too serious, and don’t abuse it. Experience this world physically. The sunset is free, and so is the scenery. Please remember, aside from yourself, everything is secondary. Everyone’s kindness must have edges; don’t always get the short end of the stick. The meaning of human relationships should be to make each other feel comfortable and free. Hopefully, life becomes beautiful because of the people and becomes plentiful because of the things that happen in it.
Don’t worry. You have to believe there’s always energy in this universe, silently being released to you all in this world. When it comes to life, you can like whoever you want, but you must like yourself, too.”
