(G)I-DLE’s Shuhua Being Criticized For Comments About Other Idols Sparks Heated Debate On Misogyny
(G)I-DLE Shuhua‘s recent comments about other idols have been criticized, sparking a debate about misogyny within K-pop.
(G)I-DLE recently released their track “Klaxon.”
When promoting the song, Shuhua was truly legendary as she explained, “They will only listen to (G)I-DLE.”
Shuhua then hilariously apologized to other idols after saying they would be addicted to (G)I-DLE songs.
After a post on the Spotify ranking of the song, someone brought back the clip of Shuhua joking about the fans not listening to other idols and criticized her.
Nah ik someone is super embarrassed 😭😭 "sorry to other idols" https://t.co/slLQFnyG3L pic.twitter.com/TGB8PXq1OL

Even though you said she was just joking, is that a nice thing for an idol to say in front of the camera? All fans of various idols probably think it’s not a joke. That’s fine, if for example the results are according to her wishes, but what if not? 😭

she’s literally the most talentless mainstream idol like 😭 her ass needs to sit down https://t.co/MWFojyElm4

When netizens saw the criticism, they hit back at the hate Shuhua was receiving. In particular, they pointed out how common it was for male idols to make comments “gatekeeping” their fans, but when Shuhua does it as a joke when promoting their song, suddenly it’s a bad thing to say.
i feel so bad for female idols, everything they do is scrutinized, this is such an obvious joke as shuhua is one of those idols who’s always talking about how they love other groups songs. you guys are truly vile people, i’m begging y’all to pick up a shift at ur local wendy’s https://t.co/3JStqom27q

how come shes getting hate for lightheartedly saying this when you all let male idols say the exact same 'only listen to us' type of thing and think theyre so funny 😭 https://t.co/m3jPMk5Tj6

Y'all never do this to males because they're " confident , sassy kings " but women are evil and mean spirited alrighttt https://t.co/bTmUpT9mxA

genuinely feel so bad for shuhua. y’all love this type of joke/sarcastic personality when it comes to male idols but have an issue with it while it comes to females. she’s clearly just trying to promote her group yet y’all purposely misunderstand. https://t.co/BfzUsATi8m

i thought y’all wanted kpop idols to be “real” but here y’all go dragging her. she’s been known for having this personality lol this is very fan behavior, thanks for taking time watching the live just to find a clip to drag them tho https://t.co/XZKeDNUY3Z

One fan even brought up other examples of female idols being scrutinized and how it emphasizes the “misogyny” within K-Pop.
jennie getting slammed for VAPING, kazuha getting slammed for LIKING a pro palestinian fan post, shuhua getting slammed for JOKING around, julie getting slammed for the bike scene, is the blatant misogyny and disrespect towards female idols not ticking anyone else or what????

Shuhua has always been honest and never minced her words, which is something netizens love about her. Yet, she always seems to gain criticism for her comments, even if they’re being said as a light-hearted joke.
