Beloved Girl Group Accused Of Sexually Harassing Senior Male Idol

Fans are upset.

Girl group VIVIZ recently guested on JYJ Jaejoong‘s Jae Friends. As per show protocol, each guest has to fill in a form when they guest on the show. VIVIZ filled up the form, but one of their answers rubbed fans the wrong way. Their answer to the question “what image does the name Kim Jaejoong conjur up for you” was accused of being sexually harassing.

The girls wrote down “so it’s you, the pretty one from Class 8.” The line originates from a fan fiction that Jaejoong was the main character of. While it was a highly popular fan fiction from his TVXQ days, the contents of the fan fiction was rather mature.

Jaejoong himself had previously expressed discomfort with it as well. The question and its answer has now been deleted from the YouTube community page, but fans had already responded in the comments.

If a male idol had done this, all the online community sites would be bashing him to no end for sexual harassment. Honestly, things ended here because his fans held it in. If it was another singer or actor, things would’ve gone crazy. It’s fine even if it’s this late, so I hope they properly edit it out. It might not have mattered in the past, but in this day and age, it doesn’t sit right.

Above everything else, isn’t it so weird how a meme is their impression of Jaejoong when they hear his name? Do they think of that knowing what it is? I don’t know how the filming went down, but this profile would’ve been first seen during filming, and it’s so bad how he himself would’ve had to read it. Jae Friends is a program I’m so thankful for, and I’ve been loving it regularly, but this is shocking. Those who say we’re acting up — that meme was born through trolls, and the relevant party himself was sexually harassed and he himself, as well as fans both are shocked and want this to stay lowkey. Whenever RTPs are brought up, Kim Jaejoong is always referenced in a sexually harassing way, so of course he would hate that meme tagging him around. — Kjjhd1

If a male idol said something sexually harassing to a female idol, it would’ve been a huge issue. Of course, while it was a popular meme, I don’t think that things would’ve progressed if the guests knew where the meme stemmed from. The reason why fans have a problem with this is due to how the producers handled it in an unskilled way. They need to be careful about the editing for this episode.

Despite this, the line itself became a meme across South Korea. Not only have people used it as slogans on non-Kpop merch, but it has also appeared in dramas.
