Girls’ Generation Hyoyeon’s Joke About Jessica Jung’s Expulsion Sparks Heated Mixed Reactions
Girls’ Generation Hyoyeon‘s recent comments have earned heated reactions online.
Recently, Hyoyeon appeared as a guest on actress Ji Ye Eun‘s YouTube Program My Way Dining Table. This episode was highly anticipated as the actress is known to be a huge SONE (Girls’ Generation’s fandom name).
This topic was brought up during the episode, and with it mentioned that Ye Eun wished to join the girl group at one point. Hyoyeon asked her which role she would have liked to have filled, and two mentioned her being the youngest or the tallest.
Hyoyeon then says a spot is open before the subject is changed.
Hyoyeon was likely referencing Jessica Jung’s departure from the group in 2014, following the latter’s establishment of a fashion brand. The departure was shocking at the time and sparked various reactions from fans.
Now, Hyoyeon’s comments have sparked a mixed of reactions as well.
Some found the joke to be in poor taste, mentioning how Jessica’s career was affected by an alleged blacklisting that she implied in her book. Some fans also mentioned neagtive reactions to Jessica discussing her removal from the group in comparison.

On the other hand, many brought up the release of Shine, which is believed to be Jessica’s recounting of her time in the group and put many of the members in a negative light, saying that Hyoyeon should be allowed to speak about it as well.
