Why Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon Refuses To Sing Her Own Group’s Songs In Karaoke

She’s as honest as can be.

Girls’ Generation‘s Hyoyeon interviewed (G)I-DLE‘s Miyeon in her YouTube show.

The latter revealed that she is a big fan of the dancer. In the rare occasions when she would visit a karaoke booth, she always sang Girls’ Generation tracks.

I didn’t go to karaoke often when I was younger. But whenever I did, I would sing a lot of Girls’ Generation songs.

Some of their most popular songs include “Gee,” “Genie,” “Run Devil Run,” “Hoot,” and more.

Hyoyeon replied that she was the complete opposite. She would always choose songs by other artists, never those that she recorded herself with her members.

When I go to karaoke, I never sing our songs.

— Hyoyeon

She was honest about the reason why: Girls’ Generation songs are often too difficult.

Our songs have many high notes.

— Hyoyeon

Though Hyoyeon is a capable singer as well, she is best known for her incredible dancing abilities while in Girls’ Generation. In the rare occasion where she feels like singing a song that she recorded, she lowers the key in the karaoke machine first.

There are times when I wanna do it so I lower the keys.

— Hyoyeon
