Fans Slam SM Entertainment After Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany Shares How She Was Treated During 15th Anniversary Preparations
Girls’ Generation‘s Tiffany recently appeared on an episode of MBC‘s Radio Star. Among many revelations, she talked about the treatment she received at SM Entertainment when she visited to work on the group’s 15th debut anniversary project.
She was apparently forced to undergo strict security checks before entering the building for rehearsals, giving her phone number and that of her manager. Moreover, though she was there for official work as an artist, she still needed to pay an expensive parking fee.
Finally, refreshments were no longer complementary even though she was still being a member of Girls’ Generation. Fellow member Sunny, who was still under the company, stepped in and told her to order the ₩4,500 KRW (about $3.33 USD) Americano in her name instead.
Tiffany went back to SM's new building for rehearsals, and had to do security checks, pay to park, and ordered drink in Sunny's name 😬

Ending her story, she joked that the company was as rich as they are now because of the revenue she brought in with Girls’ Generation.
You bought the new building thanks to me!

Fans couldn’t help but share their shocked reactions online. They agreed that while SM Entertainment was justified for implementing safety protocols, they went too far with Tiffany who was just “there to work for a group she’s part of.”
the coffee i understand but for stuff like parking they should hand out temporary passes or smth for professional reasons. it wasn't a recreational visit, she didn't go there to chit chat with the girls. she was there to work, for a group that she's part of. let her fucking park. https://t.co/yX7HXs4TOr

this is so deplorable 💀
I get that the way a company treats contractors will always differ from how they treat internal employees, but considering how much money SM exploited out of the SNSD girls’ for their work, a little consideration would be nice like damn https://t.co/Hpv6Dn3oOt

I understand it's a protocol, but wth??? Did SM just forgot she's one of the reason why SM flourished like this??? She maybe a former SM artist but this is not how you should treat someone who you should be grateful for https://t.co/XvLdAAcHhP

They blamed SM Entertainment as a whole for the “poor planning” involved that led to Tiffany’s experience.
Security is just following protocols. I blame this on the poor planning of the project coordinator. They should've given a heads up to security and gave them a list of expected visitors so as not to waste everybody's time. https://t.co/jCy1HC0FnH

I still don't understand why SM couldn't just inform security that 3 individuals named Tiffany, Sooyoung and Seohyun would be coming to the SM building often for practice/rehearsals. Is this not how normal companies arrange for visitors/contractors 🌚 https://t.co/6ywvQqXjpZ

Considering that she is still a member of a group under SM Entertainment, they expected better treatment for her.
SM really made Tiffany pay an expensive parking fee, had her get her manager's id & refused her entry into the building (waited outside), when she was there for SNSD's cb rehearsals
She's been your artist for 13yrs, is still a member of your group & built that building like bffr pic.twitter.com/bxYfXkdupq

Tiffany said non-SM members need to pay SM parking fee and coffee with their own money and Sunny said to put it under her name..

The members of Girls’ Generation are currently under different companies pursuing solo careers. They came together for a short period of time in 2022 to promote “FOREVER 1,” their 15th debut anniversary song.
