Xu Ziyin Withdraws From “Girls Planet 999” Despite Surviving Eliminations
Mnet‘s latest survival show Girls Planet 999 just aired its second elimination round, in which just 27 contestants made it through to next week’s ninth episode. C-Group trainee Xu Ziyin was one of them — but now, she’s sadly announced her withdrawal from the show.
Since before Girls Planet 999 even began, Xu Ziyin has been one of the most popular contestants. Qualifying to train under JYP Entertainment, SM Entertainment, and Cube Entertainment in the past, she previously competed on two Chinese survival shows (including Youth with You 2), acted in a C-Drama and a movie, and released her debut solo mini-album earlier this year.
From her incredible singing skills in a variety of styles to her ability to speak Mandarin, Korean, English, and Japanese, Xu Ziyin (who also goes by Roada) had it all. As such, it should come as little surprise that she had a great run on Girls Planet 999. In the show’s first elimination round, her cell with Fanatics‘ Doah and Arai Risako ranked 6th overall with 1,134,128 points.
Then, in this week’s second elimination round, she narrowly made the cut, ranking 8th out of all the C-Group contestants with 1,637,433 points.

So thankful to all the Planet Guardians who have voted for me. This is so unexpected. I never thought I’d be rank 8. Thanks so much for giving me this chance. I’ll try even harder to show you my best. Thank you.

However, later in the show, it was shockingly revealed that Xu Ziyin has actually dropped out of the competition entirely due to health concerns.
Following the news, Xu Ziyin posted messages on social media for her fans in both English and Mandarin. The 25-year-old starlet explained that after much thought, she has decided to leave the competition due to her health. Xu Ziyin went on to express her thanks to the staff, the mentors, and her fellow contestants.
Due to my recent health concerns, I have made the hard decision to leave the recording of ‘Girls Planet 999’ after much careful consideration and discussion. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the program staff and the mentors for their caring and masters during the journey. Also, I would like to thank girls from ‘Girls Planet 999’ for all the happy moments we spent together.

Finally, Xu Ziyin thanked all the fans who have supported her during her stay in South Korea. While she regrets not being able to stay until the end, she’s determined to push forward even further in the future.
I would also like to give special thanks to my fans who have been supporting me arduously, it’s because of your love and support that made my stay in Korea much joyful and meaningful. It is with much regret that I wasn’t able to stay til the end of the program and this journey needs to be halted. Nonetheless, my goals and directions have become just clearer and strides ahead firmer.

Across social media, fans are expressing their shock and disappointment that she’ll no longer be in the running to debut in Mnet’s latest girl group. That aside, viewers are also showering Xu Ziyin with love and support, wishing her good health and a speedy recovery as well as plenty of success in the future.
What?! It said Xu Ziyin had to step down from #GirlsPlanet999 due to a health issue. I hope she is okay. She was one of my underrated faves. 😭

Ziyin is sick, all we need to do right now is respect her privacy because it is a personal issue and wish for her good health. I will not blame her from stepping out of the show because that was the best thing that she could ever do right now and recover +++
